Stephanie Chewning

Why Select Chewning Design?

Because you want a designer who can hit the ground running.

I am an independent graphic designer with an agency background. I have over 30 years of experience helping organizations communicate their message. Before starting Chewning Design in 2004, I worked for several Washington, DC-area agencies. I honed skills from each of these firms.

One agency was mostly focused on graphic design and I enjoyed the pureness of the design process. Another had a mix of advertising as well, so I enjoyed combining the creative vision with consumer psychology. The third was focused on association marketing so I spent many years learning about membership marketing and conference branding. With positions including Art Director and Assistant Art Director, I learned the business side of graphic design. I brought all of these skills with me when I started my solo practice.

I enjoy the creative process and each project is a new challenge to explore.

You want a designer who has a proven history and one who can hit the ground running. If your organization already has an in-house department consider adding me to your roster for when you need a little outside help. If your Association does not have an art department, consider selecting Chewning Design for your next project. If you anticipate needing regular support, we can discuss retainers and contract pricing to help you stay on budget. .

On the personal side, I meditate daily and find a balanced life shows up in my work. I am a certified Meditation Teacher (a 2-year program through the Mindfulness Center, Bethesda MD), a certified HeartMath® Coach, and a certified Reiki Master. I teach Therapeutic Breathwork and the Mind-Body Connection (www.chewningmindbody.com) in addition to maintaining my graphic design business.  I have a green thumb and love tending to my backyard vegetable and herb garden.

I live with my husband and little black-and-white yorkie in Alexandria, Virginia. I work from my home studio.

Marnie, the studio mascot.
